This master's thesis project in art direction and graphic design explores the topic of cartography. The subject came from a reflection during a trip, where I started wondering how we find our way in a space we don't know. The main question is how mapping, through its use and format, can work as a medium at once political, artistic, and scientific. To explore this, the topic was split into three parts, each tied to a different medium.

To bring this reflection to life, I created a map of my own thinking, using three different "territories," each with its own pattern, to represent the three mediums. On this map, I placed my inspirations, research, and the names of the people (graphic designers, geographers, cartographers, philosophers, artists) who helped shape my thinking. The idea of the map shows up both in the format of the thesis itself, shaped like a road map, and in its visual identity, through map-inspired iconography. For the graphic system, I wanted the layout of paragraphs and titles to feel like a route on a map, so reading through it feels like following a path.
